Why We Test Every Game in Airplane Mode

Why We Test Every Game in Airplane Mode

March 10, 2026 · Markus Feldmann

Before any game gets a spot in our catalog, we do one boring but important thing: switch the phone to airplane mode and open it. It's amazing how many so-called offline games fail this instantly.

Some show a login screen. Some hang on a spinner. Some quietly work until you try to save, then throw an error. None of those count as offline in our book.

We keep the standard strict on purpose. If you're on a plane or in a dead zone, you shouldn't discover a game's true nature at the worst possible moment.

It's a small ritual, but it filters out a surprising amount of noise. When we say a game runs offline, it means we watched it do exactly that with the antenna off.
