Embergate Saga
★★★★★ 4.7
Embergate Saga is the offline RPG I keep recommending to friends. You build a small party, wander a hand-drawn world and slowly uncover why the border towns are burning. The writing has real bite, with choices that quietly change who joins you later.
Combat is turn-based and readable. You line up attacks, watch enemy patterns and pick when to spend your limited special moves. It never feels random, which matters when a boss takes twenty minutes to grind down.
Everything saves to the device, so I played most of it on trains with zero signal. The one downside is a slow opening hour, but push past it and the game opens up beautifully.
What we liked
- Deep offline story with branching choices
- Tactical turn-based combat
- Great for long commutes
